Volunteer

Volunteers are key to making the annual Johnson City Omnium bicycle race safe. Volunteers can be someone other than the racer: spouse, parent, friend. Volunteers get a 30% discount for one volunteer position or a 60% discount for two positions. A code will be sent to each racer on May 18 so you can register online with the discount. As a volunteer, you will be responsible to control/flag traffic as the racers go through the intersections during the races.

There are four separate opportunities on Saturday June 1 and Sunday June 2, 2019.

  • Saturday June 1 from 8:00am to 12:00 in Carter County we need 12 road marshals at six intersections for the Carter County Roan Groan.
  • Saturday June 1 from 5:00pm to 7:30pm in Unicoi County on Temple Hill road, we need 10 road marshals at 10 connecting side roads for the Ballad Health Time Trial.
  • Sunday June 2 from 8:00am to 12:30am we need 12 marshals to control pedestrian traffic during the Fountain Square Criterium in Downtown Johnson City. Free lunch included
  • Sunday June 2 from 12:30am to 5:00pm we need 12 marshals to control pedestrian traffic during the Fountain Square Criterium in Downtown Johnson City. Free lunch included

To participate you must have a valid drivers license. Contact Reneau Dubberley by May 17 with your preferred shift, name, name of racer if different, e-mail address and telephone number at director@jcomnium.com or 423-926-8228.

Volunteer early while positions are available!
